Me traz meu passado e as lembranças
Te juro, meu amor, agora é pra valer
Olha, vem comigo aonde eu for
Seja minha amante, meu amor
Vem seguir comigo o meu caminho
E viver a vida só de amor.

uma 'strada Iluminada pela frente
Quando te vi amei-te já muito antes:
Tornei a achar-te quando te encontrei.
Nasci pra ti antes de haver o mundo.
Não há cousa feliz ou hora alegre
Que eu tenha tido pela vida fora,
Que o não fosse porque te previa,
Porque dormias nela tu futuro.
.....................................................................
.....................................................................
Quando eu era pequena, sinto que eu
Amava-te já longe, mas de longe...
.....................................................................
Amor, diz qualquer cousa que eu te sinta!
— Compreendo-te tanto que não sinto,
Oh coração exterior ao meu!
Fatalidade, filha do destino

LITTLE GIDDING
(No. 4 of 'Four Quartets')
T.S. Eliot
I
Midwinter spring is its own season
Sempiternal though sodden towards sundown,
Suspended in time, between pole and tropic.
When the short day is brightest, with frost and fire,
The brief sun flames the ice, on pond and ditches,
In windless cold that is the heart's heat,
Reflecting in a watery mirror
A glare that is blindness in the early afternoon.
And glow more intense than blaze of branch, or brazier,
Stirs the dumb spirit: no wind, but pentecostal fire
In the dark time of the year. Between melting and freezing
The soul's sap quivers. There is no earth smell
Or smell of living thing. This is the spring time
But not in time's covenant. Now the hedgerow
Is blanched for an hour with transitory blossom
Of snow, a bloom more sudden
Than that of summer, neither budding nor fading,
Not in the scheme of generation.
Where is the summer, the unimaginable
Zero summer?
Sempiternal though sodden towards sundown,
Suspended in time, between pole and tropic.
When the short day is brightest, with frost and fire,
The brief sun flames the ice, on pond and ditches,

If you came this way,
Taking the route you would be likely to take
From the place you would be likely to come from,
If you came this way in may time, you would find the hedges
White again, in May, with voluptuary sweetness.
It would be the same at the end of the journey,
If you came at night like a broken king,
If you came by day not knowing what you came for,
It would be the same, when you leave the rough road
And turn behind the pig-sty to the dull facade
And the tombstone. And what you thought you came for
Is only a shell, a husk of meaning
From which the purpose breaks only when it is fulfilled
If at all. Either you had no purpose
Or the purpose is beyond the end you figured
And is altered in fulfilment. There are other places
Which also are the world's end, some at the sea jaws,
Or over a dark lake, in a desert or a city—
But this is the nearest, in place and time,
Now and in England.

If you came this way,
Taking any route, starting from anywhere,
At any time or at any season,
It would always be the same: you would have to put off
Sense and notion. You are not here to verify,
Instruct yourself, or inform curiosity
Or carry report. You are here to kneel
Where prayer has been valid. And prayer is more
Than an order of words, the conscious occupation
Of the praying mind, or the sound of the voice praying.
And what the dead had no speech for, when living,
They can tell you, being dead: the communication
Of the dead is tongued with fire beyond the language of the living.
Here, the intersection of the timeless moment
Is England and nowhere. Never and always.

II
Ash on and old man's sleeve
Is all the ash the burnt roses leave.
Dust in the air suspended
Marks the place where a story ended.
Dust inbreathed was a house—
The walls, the wainscot and the mouse,
The death of hope and despair,
This is the death of air.
Is all the ash the burnt roses leave.
Dust in the air suspended
Marks the place where a story ended.
Dust inbreathed was a house—
The walls, the wainscot and the mouse,
The death of hope and despair,
This is the death of air.
There are flood and drouth
Over the eyes and in the mouth,
Dead water and dead sand
Contending for the upper hand.
The parched eviscerate soil
Gapes at the vanity of toil,
Laughs without mirth.
This is the death of earth.
Over the eyes and in the mouth,
Dead water and dead sand
Contending for the upper hand.
The parched eviscerate soil
Gapes at the vanity of toil,
Laughs without mirth.
This is the death of earth.
Water and fire succeed
The town, the pasture and the weed.
Water and fire deride
The sacrifice that we denied.
Water and fire shall rot
The marred foundations we forgot,
Of sanctuary and choir.
This is the death of water and fire.
The town, the pasture and the weed.
Water and fire deride
The sacrifice that we denied.
Water and fire shall rot
The marred foundations we forgot,
Of sanctuary and choir.
This is the death of water and fire.
In the uncertain hour before the morning
Near the ending of interminable night
At the recurrent end of the unending
After the dark dove with the flickering tongue
Had passed below the horizon of his homing
While the dead leaves still rattled on like tin
Over the asphalt where no other sound was
Between three districts whence the smoke arose
I met one walking, loitering and hurried
As if blown towards me like the metal leaves
Before the urban dawn wind unresisting.
And as I fixed upon the down-turned face
That pointed scrutiny with which we challenge
The first-met stranger in the waning dusk
I caught the sudden look of some dead master
Whom I had known, forgotten, half recalled
Both one and many; in the brown baked features
The eyes of a familiar compound ghost
Both intimate and unidentifiable.
So I assumed a double part, and cried
And heard another's voice cry: 'What! are you here?'
Although we were not. I was still the same,
Knowing myself yet being someone other—
And he a face still forming; yet the words sufficed
To compel the recognition they preceded.
And so, compliant to the common wind,
Too strange to each other for misunderstanding,
In concord at this intersection time
Of meeting nowhere, no before and after,
We trod the pavement in a dead patrol.
I said: 'The wonder that I feel is easy,
Yet ease is cause of wonder. Therefore speak:
I may not comprehend, may not remember.'
And he: 'I am not eager to rehearse
My thoughts and theory which you have forgotten.
These things have served their purpose: let them be.
So with your own, and pray they be forgiven
By others, as I pray you to forgive
Both bad and good. Last season's fruit is eaten
And the fullfed beast shall kick the empty pail.
For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.
But, as the passage now presents no hindrance
To the spirit unappeased and peregrine
Between two worlds become much like each other,
So I find words I never thought to speak
In streets I never thought I should revisit
When I left my body on a distant shore.
Since our concern was speech, and speech impelled us
To purify the dialect of the tribe
And urge the mind to aftersight and foresight,
Let me disclose the gifts reserved for age
To set a crown upon your lifetime's effort.
First, the cold friction of expiring sense
Without enchantment, offering no promise
But bitter tastelessness of shadow fruit
As body and soul begin to fall asunder.
Second, the conscious impotence of rage
At human folly, and the laceration
Of laughter at what ceases to amuse.
And last, the rending pain of re-enactment
Of all that you have done, and been; the shame
Of motives late revealed, and the awareness
Of things ill done and done to others' harm
Which once you took for exercise of virtue.
Then fools' approval stings, and honour stains.
From wrong to wrong the exasperated spirit
Proceeds, unless restored by that refining fire
Where you must move in measure, like a dancer.'
The day was breaking. In the disfigured street
He left me, with a kind of valediction,
And faded on the blowing of the horn.
Near the ending of interminable night

There are three conditions which often look alike
Yet differ completely, flourish in the same hedgerow:
Attachment to self and to things and to persons, detachment
From self and from things and from persons; and, growing between them, indifference
Which resembles the others as death resembles life,
Being between two lives—unflowering, between
The live and the dead nettle. This is the use of memory:
For liberation—not less of love but expanding
Of love beyond desire, and so liberation
From the future as well as the past. Thus, love of a country
Begins as attachment to our own field of action
And comes to find that action of little importance
Though never indifferent. History may be servitude,
History may be freedom. See, now they vanish,
The faces and places, with the self which, as it could, loved them,
To become renewed, transfigured, in another pattern.

Sin is Behovely, but
All shall be well, and
All manner of thing shall be well.
If I think, again, of this place,
And of people, not wholly commendable,
Of no immediate kin or kindness,
But of some peculiar genius,
All touched by a common genius,
United in the strife which divided them;
If I think of a king at nightfall,
Of three men, and more, on the scaffold
And a few who died forgotten
In other places, here and abroad,
And of one who died blind and quiet
Why should we celebrate
These dead men more than the dying?
It is not to ring the bell backward
Nor is it an incantation
To summon the spectre of a Rose.
We cannot revive old factions
We cannot restore old policies
Or follow an antique drum.
These men, and those who opposed them
And those whom they opposed
Accept the constitution of silence
And are folded in a single party.
Whatever we inherit from the fortunate
We have taken from the defeated
What they had to leave us—a symbol:
A symbol perfected in death.
And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
By the purification of the motive
In the ground of our beseeching.
All shall be well, and
All manner of thing shall be well.

IV
The dove descending breaks the air
With flame of incandescent terror
Of which the tongues declare
The one discharge from sin and error.
The only hope, or else despair
Lies in the choice of pyre of pyre—
To be redeemed from fire by fire.
With flame of incandescent terror

Lies in the choice of pyre of pyre—
To be redeemed from fire by fire.
Who then devised the torment? Love.
Love is the unfamiliar Name
Behind the hands that wove
The intolerable shirt of flame
Which human power cannot remove.
We only live, only suspire
Consumed by either fire or fire.

What we call the beginning is often the end
And to make and end is to make a beginning.
The end is where we start from. And every phrase
And sentence that is right (where every word is at home,
Taking its place to support the others,
The word neither diffident nor ostentatious,
An easy commerce of the old and the new,
The common word exact without vulgarity,
The formal word precise but not pedantic,
The complete consort dancing together)
Every phrase and every sentence is an end and a beginning,
Every poem an epitaph. And any action
Is a step to the block, to the fire, down the sea's throat
Or to an illegible stone: and that is where we start.
We die with the dying:
See, they depart, and we go with them.
We are born with the dead:
See, they return, and bring us with them.
The moment of the rose and the moment of the yew-tree
Are of equal duration. A people without history
Is not redeemed from time, for history is a pattern
Of timeless moments. So, while the light fails
On a winter's afternoon, in a secluded chapel
History is now and England.
And to make and end is to make a beginning.
The end is where we start from. And every phrase
And sentence that is right (where every word is at home,

With the drawing of this Love and the voice of this
Calling
Calling
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, unremembered gate
When the last of earth left to discover
Is that which was the beginning;
At the source of the longest river
The voice of the hidden waterfall
And the children in the apple-tree
Not known, because not looked for
But heard, half-heard, in the stillness
Between two waves of the sea.
Quick now, here, now, always—
A condition of complete simplicity
(Costing not less than everything)
And all shall be well and
All manner of thing shall be well
When the tongues of flame are in-folded
Into the crowned knot of fire
And the fire and the rose are one.
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
Through the unknown, unremembered gate

Quando é que despertarei de estar acordado?
Magnificat
E eu, a minha alma, terei o meu dia?
Quando é que despertarei de estar acordado?
Não sei. O sol brilha alto,
Impossível de fitar.
As estrelas pestanejam frio,
E recolherei a casa?
Onde?
Quem tens lá no fundo?
É esse! É esse!
Esse mandará como Josué parar o sol e eu acordarei;
E então será dia.
Sorri, dormindo, minha alma!

chi siamo noi
se vedi un'altra donna camminare
nella tua via
e ti ricordi quando c'ero io
la colpa e' sua
il ritmo bilanciato del suo passo
sono ritagli di dettagli
se no perche'
ti stai immediatamente ricordando
proprio di me
fallo tacendo
perche' se dici a un'altra
il nome mio
ti stai sbagliando
non tutti hanno piacere di sentire
parlare di qualcuno che non c'e'
sono dettagli che fanno capire
che pensi a me
piu' quasi niente
a furia di dettagli stai cambiando
e gia' si sente
la piccola scintilla
fa il grande incendio.

You're a Boticcelli
At words poetic, I'm so pathetic
That I always have found it best,
Instead of getting 'em off my chest,
To let 'em rest unexpressed,
I hate parading my serenading
As I'll probably miss a bar,
But if this ditty is not so pretty
At least it'll tell you
How great you are.
You're the top!
You're the Coliseum.
You're the top!
You're the Louvre Museum.
You're a melody from a symphony by Strauss
You're a Bendel bonnet,
A Shakespeare's sonnet,
You're Mickey Mouse.
You're the Nile,
You're the Tower of Pisa,
You're the smile on the Mona Lisa
I'm a worthless check, a total wreck, a flop,
But if, baby, I'm the bottom you're the top!
Your words poetic are not pathetic.
On the other hand, babe, you shine,
And I can feel after every line
A thrill divine
Down my spine.
Now gifted humans like Vincent Youmans
Might think that your song is bad,
But I got a notion
I'll second the motion
And this is what I'm going to add;
You're the top!
You're Mahatma Gandhi.
You're the top!
You're Napoleon Brandy.
You're the purple light
Of a summer night in Spain,
You're the National Gallery
You're Garbo's salary,
You're cellophane.
You're sublime,
You're turkey dinner,
You're the time of a Derby winner
I'm a toy balloon that’s fated soon to pop
But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!
You're the top!
You're an Arrow collar
You're the top!
You're a Coolidge dollar,
You're the nimble tread
Of the feet of Fred Astaire,
You're an O'Neill drama,
You're Whistler's mama!
You're camembert.
You're a rose,
You're Inferno's Dante,
You're the nose
On the great Durante.
I'm just in a way,
As the French would say, "de trop".
But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!
You're the top!
You're a dance in Bali.
You're the top!
You're a hot tamale.
You're an angel, you,
Simply too, too, too diveen,
You're a Boticcelli,
You're Keats,
You're Shelly!
You're Ovaltine!
You're a boom,
You're the dam at Boulder,
You're the moon,
Over Mae West's shoulder,
I'm the nominee of the G.O.P.
Or GOP!
But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!
You're the top!
You're a Waldorf salad.
You're the top!
You're a Berlin ballad.
You're the boats that glide
On the sleepy Zuider Zee,
You're an old Dutch master,
You're Lady Astor,
You're broccoli!
You're romance,
You're the steppes of Russia,
You're the pants, on a Roxy usher,
I'm a broken doll, a fol-de-rol, a blop,
But if, baby, I'm the bottom,
You're the top!

é ferida que dói, e não se sente;
é um contentamento descontente,
é dor que desatina sem doer.
É um não querer mais que bem querer;
é um andar solitário entre a gente;
é nunca contentar-se de contente;
É querer estar preso por vontade;
é servir a quem vence, o vencedor;

Ni rien devant ni rien derrière rien entier
Me diriger je me savais démesuré

Olinda
Tens a paz dos Mosteiros da Índia
Tu és linda
Pra mim és ainda
Minha mulher
Calada
O silêncio rompe a madrugada
Já não somos aflitos nem nada
Tu voltas
Entre frutas, verão e tu voltas
Abriremos janelas e portas.
Alceu.

A hora e a vez
Vê quantas voltas
Tem que dar o amor
...
Paga a promessa
Que não fez

Olha no espelho
E só vê o amor
Agora sabe
Que perdeu a paz.

nublado o céu de estrelas
O mar vazou de uma paixão,
atravessou meus olhos,
encheu a minha mão.
Caiu no chão
em doces gotas de amor,
evaporou na noite,
nublou o céu de estrelas
e derramou manhã.
Se o amor sabe de tudo fazer,
pode ter um jeito de acasalar
o canto do mar
com minha voz de cantor
e fazer do meu canto
um brado tão fundo
que só um grande amor atinge
pra amolecer o mundo

Fernando Pessoa.

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

meus sentidos prostrados se submetem
Vossos olhos, Senhora, que competem
Com o Sol em beleza e claridade,
Enchem os meus de tal suavidade,
Que em lágrimas de vê-los se derretem.
Meus sentidos prostrados se submetem
Assim cegos a tanta majestade;
E da triste prisão, da escuridade,
Cheios de medo, por fugir remetem.
Porém se então me vedes por acerto,
Esse áspero desprezo com que olhais
Me torna a animar a alma enfraquecida.
Oh gentil cura! Oh estranho desconcerto!

Que em vivo ardor tremendo estou de frio;
Sem causa, juntamente choro e rio,
O mundo todo abarco, e nada aperto.
É tudo quanto sinto um desconcerto:
Da alma um fogo me sai, da vista um rio;
Agora espero, agora desconfio;
Agora desvario, agora acerto.
Estando em terra, chego ao céu voando;

before the fiddlers have fled...
There may be trouble ahead
But while there's moonlight and music
And love and romance
Let's face the music and dance
Before the fiddlers have fled
Before they ask us to pay the bill
And while we still
Have the chance
Let's face the music and dance
Soon
We'll be without the moon
Humming a diff'rent tune
And then
There may be teardrops to shed
So while there's moonlight and music
And love and romance
Let's face the music and dance.

a batallas de amor campo de pluma
Llegó todo el lugar, y despedido,
casta Venus, que el lecho ha prevenido
de las plumas que baten más süaves
en su volante carro blancas aves,
los novios entra en dura no estacada;
que, siendo Amor una deidad alada,
bien previno la hija de la espuma
a batallas de amor campo de pluma.

À une passante
La rue assourdissante autour de moi hurlait.
Longue, mince, en grand deuil, douleur majestueuse,
Une femme passa, d'une main fastueuse
Soulevant, balançant le feston et l'ourlet ;
Ailleurs, bien loin d'ici ! Trop tard !

Clareza do tino
O seu amor
Reluz
Que nem riqueza
Asa do meu destino
Clareza do tino
Pétala
De estrela caindo
Bem devagar...
Oh! meu amor!
Viver
É todo sacrifício
Feito em seu nome
Quanto mais desejo
Um beijo, um beijo seu
Muito mais eu vejo
Gosto em viver
Viver!
Por ser exato
O amor não cabe em si
Por ser encantado
O amor revela-se
Por ser amor
Invade
E fim!!...

Paraguaçu
Paraguaçu gentil (tal nome teve)
bem diversa de gente tão nojosa;
De cor tão alva, como a branca neve;
E donde não é neve, era de rosa;
O nariz natural, boca mui breve,
quanto honesta encobriu, fez ver-lhe o preço.
xxx
nem arde em peito rude a amante chama;
Gupeva, que não sente o seu despeito,
Tratava-a sem amor, mas com respeito.
xxx
(Paraguaçu conhece Diogo para servir-lhe de intérprete)

Ânsias no coração sentiu tamanhas

Ó meigo olhar das lúcidas pupilas;
com mão de esposa poderás senti-las;
Disse, e estendendo a mão, ofereceu-lha;
Ela que nada diz, sorriu-se, e deu-lha.
Põe-lhe de fuga os olhos que abaixara;
Três vezes quis falar, três vezes se calara;
e ficou do soçobro tão formosa,

bem diversa de gente tão nojosa;
De cor tão alva, como a branca neve;
E donde não é neve, era de rosa;
O nariz natural, boca mui breve,
quanto honesta encobriu, fez ver-lhe o preço.

nem arde em peito rude a amante chama;
Gupeva, que não sente o seu despeito,
Tratava-a sem amor, mas com respeito.

Desde hoje se a meus olhos corresponde
Ó meigo olhar das lúcidas pupilas;

insidiosa esperanza interminable
Jano ou Janus.
Segundo se lê na Wkipedia:
In Roman mythology, Janus is the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings, endings and time. Most often he is depicted as having two heads, facing opposite directions; one head looks back at the last year while the other looks forward to the new, simultaneously into the future and the past.
Belas cenas. Belas músicas. Há várias referências ao deus.
depois, lendo Borges, encontro-o no poema "El Hacedor":
Somos el río que invocaste, Heráclito.
Somos el tiempo. Su intangible curso
acarrea leones y montañas,
llorado amor, ceniza del deleite,
insidiosa esperanza interminable,

encore Anna
Qu'il m'a fallu vous vaincre ainsi qu'en un combat;
Qu'il m'a fallu vous vaincre ainsi qu'en un combat;

que iban labrando capullos;
hoy son mariposas negras.
¡De cuántas flores amargas
he sacado blanca cera!
¡Oh, tiempo en que mis pesares
trabajaban como abejas!
(...)
Dolores que ayer hicieron
de mi corazón colmena,
hoy tratan mi corazón
como a una muralla vieja:
quieren derribarlo, y pronto,
al golpe de la piqueta.

Brisa nova com perfume antigo...
Canção do dia de sempre
Tão bom viver dia a dia...
A vida assim, jamais cansa...
Viver tão só de momentos
Como estas nuvens no céu...
E só ganhar, toda a vida,
Inexperiência... esperança...
E a rosa louca dos ventos
Presa à copa do chapéu.
Nunca dês um nome a um rio:
Sempre é outro rio a passar.
Nada jamais continua,
Tudo vai recomeçar!
E sem nenhuma lembrança
Das outras vezes perdidas,
Atiro a rosa do sonho
Nas tuas mãos distraídas...
Tão bom viver dia a dia...
A vida assim, jamais cansa...
Viver tão só de momentos
Como estas nuvens no céu...
E só ganhar, toda a vida,
Inexperiência... esperança...
E a rosa louca dos ventos

Love´s riddles are...
Lovers' Infiniteness
If yet I have not all thy love,
Dear, I shall never have it all;
I cannot breathe one other sigh, to move,
Nor can intreat one other tear to fall;
And all my treasure, which should purchase thee—
Sighs, tears, and oaths, and letters—I have spent.
Yet no more can be due to me,
Than at the bargain made was meant;
If then thy gift of love were partial,
That some to me, some should to others fall,
Dear, I shall never have thee all.
Or if then thou gavest me all,
All was but all, which thou hadst then;
But if in thy heart, since, there be or shall
New love created be, by other men,
Which have their stocks entire, and can in tears,
In sighs, in oaths, and letters, outbid me,
This new love may beget new fears,
For this love was not vow'd by thee.
And yet it was, thy gift being general;
The ground, thy heart, is mine; whatever shall
Grow there, dear, I should have it all.
Yet I would not have all yet,
He that hath all can have no more;
And since my love doth every day admit
New growth, thou shouldst have new rewards in store;
Thou canst not every day give me thy heart,
If thou canst give it, then thou never gavest it;
Love's riddles are, that though thy heart depart,
It stays at home, and thou with losing savest it;
But we will have a way more liberal,
Than changing hearts, to join them; so we shall
Be one, and one another's all.
John Donne

I wear you tightly as I burn – don't make me come back
What the water gave me
This is how it is at the end –
me lying in my bath
while the waters break,
my skin glistening with amnion,
streaks of starlight.
And the waters keep on breaking
as I reverse out of my body.
My life dances on the silver surface
where cacti flower.
The ceiling opens
and I float up on fire.
Rain pierces me like thorns. I have a steam veil.
I sit bolt upright as the sun's rays embrace me.
Water, you are a lace wedding-gown
I slip over my head, giving birth to my death.
I wear you tightly as I burn –
don't make me come back.

Jonathan,
há nazistas desconfiados.
Põe aquela sua camisa que eu detesto
- comprada no Bazar Marrocos -
visitar tia Quita no Lajeado.

Quero a fome.
Tempo
pintar as unhas, descobrir a nuca,
piscar os olhos, beber.
Tomo o nome de Deus num vão.
Descobri que a seu tempo
vão me chorar e esquecer.

Joys ebb and flow within my tender heart.

mirarte
aprender como sos
quererte como sos
mi táctica es
hablarte
y escucharte
construir con palabras
un puente indestructible
mi táctica es
quedarme en tu recuerdo
no sé cómo ni sé
con qué pretexto
pero quedarme en vos
mi táctica es
ser franco
y saber que sos franca
y que no nos vendamos
simulacros
para que entre los dos
no haya telón
ni abismos
mi estrategia es
en cambio
más profunda y más
simple
mi estrategia es
que un día cualquiera
no sé cómo ni sé
con qué pretexto
por fin me necesites.

The sun itself sees not till heaven clears
O me, what eyes hath Love put in my head,
Which have no correspondence with true sight!
Or, if they have, where is my judgment fled,
That censures falsely what they see aright?
Which have no correspondence with true sight!
Or, if they have, where is my judgment fled,
That censures falsely what they see aright?
If that be fair whereon my false eyes dote,
What means the world to say it is not so?
If it be not, then love doth well denote
Love's eye is not so true as all men's 'No.'
What means the world to say it is not so?
If it be not, then love doth well denote
Love's eye is not so true as all men's 'No.'
How can it? O, how can Love's eye be true,
That is so vex'd with watching and with tears?
No marvel then, though I mistake my view;
That is so vex'd with watching and with tears?
No marvel then, though I mistake my view;
The sun itself sees not till heaven clears.
O cunning Love! with tears thou keep'st me blind,
Lest eyes well-seeing thy foul faults should find.
O cunning Love! with tears thou keep'st me blind,
Lest eyes well-seeing thy foul faults should find.
W. Shakespeare. Sonnet 148.

o que vulgarmente se chama amor

eu choraria”,
Mas eu, como sempre perdido,
Bêbado de sambas e tantos sonhos,
Choro a lágrima comum,
Que todos choram,
Embora não tenha, nessas horas,
Saudade do passado, remorso
Ou mágoas menores.
Meu choro, Boca,
Dolente, por questão de estilo,
É chula quase raiada
Solo espontâneo e rude,
De um samba nunca terminado,
Um rio de murmúrios da memória,
De meus olhos, e quando aflora
Serve, antes de tudo,
Para aliviar o peso das palavras,
Que ninguém é de pedra.
